Fine Art Urns are individually hand-crafted and inspired by the rich, natural setting of Atelier Du Lac, the artists’ studio. Each piece embodies the peacefulness of the woods, the garden and the lake. As in nature, each is a unique creation and no two are exactly alike.
Atelier Du Lac- Pronounced “Ah-tell-yay Dew Lock”...means “lakeside studio and workshop”. Located in the countryside and hidden in the woods, there is natural beauty is to be seen from every window. Deer, squirrels and rabbits visit the studio regularly. A lovely stream-fed lake reflects light, images of tall pines and floating clouds. The lake is home to a giant bass named “Walter,” turtles, a pair of Canadian geese, wood ducks, kingfishers, a visiting pair of otters and a stately blue heron who patiently and cleverly fishes the banks for his supper. Nighttime brings a chorus of frogs and peepers. The woods are full of fuchsia, pink and white azaleas, dogwood, flowering crabapple trees and tall pines which whisper in the soothing breezes. The artists delight in the colorful gardens. There is something about their inevitable cycles that they find endlessly appealing. There are yellow irises, deep indigo Siberian Irises, rust-colored day-lilies, paper-white narcissus, lemon yellow daffodils, purple crocus, lush hosta (which always surprise them with their late dusty-lavender blooms), peonies, English daisies, sunflowers and French lavender. A variety of wild birds visit in turn: gold and purple finch, chickadees, cardinals, robins, ruby-throated hummingbirds, a pileated woodpecker, an Eastern bluebird, a red-bellied woodpecker...and the red-shouldered hawk.
The artists find continuous inspiration in this idyllic, peaceful setting.
